Spiritual Church Empowered by the Holy Spirit

The church was started in 1911 when the first baptism was performed under the European chaplaincy of Western Aberdares and became a Parish in 1972.

Galatians 5:22-23

About Us

Short ACK History

-1844:Dr. Johann Ludwig Krapf, sent by the Church Missionary Society (CMS), established the first mission station in Rabai, near Mombasa.
-Late 1800s: Missionaries like John Rebmann and Bishop James Hannington expanded mission work inland and translated the Bible into local languages.
– Early 20th Century:The Anglican Church spread across Kenya, with the first indigenous clergy being ordained.
– 1950s:The first African bishops, including Festo Olang’, were consecrated.
– 1960:The Diocese of Kenya was formed, and in 1970, it became the Province of the Anglican Church of Kenya.
– Today: The ACK is organized into dioceses led by bishops, with the Archbishop of Kenya as the primate. It is deeply involved in education, healthcare, and social justice, promoting peace, justice, and reconciliation. The church remains committed to evangelism, discipleship, and community development.

From its 19th-century origins, the Anglican Church of Kenya has grown into a significant Christian community dedicated to spreading the Gospel and serving the people of Kenya.
